Zagreb was a blast!
19 Nov 2015
The Pyxie Dust Project 2015 launch saw the program get expanded to embrace STEM/STEAM –Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. We are lucky to have input from the founder, Josie (b.2000), we continue to keep the events focused on what real girls want and not just what adults think girls want. The program is led by her creative direction and maintaining the principles to inspire girls to explore their potential in STEM careers. Towards those ends, we had a line up of inspirational speakers and coaches on hand to help participants learn and enjoy the process. Highly interactive, we had motivational speeches by US Ambassador to Croatia, Julieta Valles Noyes and keynote by IBM Croatia Chief Operating Officer and Regional Diversity Manager, Željka Tičić on the limitless potential of girls and women in any field they can imagine. We had a demonstration of a Croatian robot STEMI by their young founders followed by real science projects using dry ice to chill welcome drinks and even learned how to extract their own DNA in less than an hour. Throughout the weekend, there was plenty of time to form friendships while working on coding and programming hardware under the watchful eye of talented and motivating mentors.
We had a great time in Zagreb and the guys from STEMI showed us some really cool things with their robot.

Oh, and don’t forget to join us on our next events.
